According to renowned German virologist Christian Drosten, the coronavirus pandemic is over. “We are seeing the first endemic wave of SARS-CoV-2 this winter. In my opinion, the pandemic is over”, said the virologist from the Charité hospital in Berlin in an interview with the newspaper Tagesspiegel. Drosten is an authority on coronavirus. The reaction of the Minister of Justice, Marco Buschmann, shows that his words are taken seriously. For him, the insight of Mr. Drosten, who is known to be very cautious, should have “political consequences”. “We must end the latest corona measures”, tweeted the minister in response to the interview. In Germany, for example, mouth masks are still mandatory on public transport.
