British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak praised the ceremony that will take place today, Saturday, to formally crown King Charles as King of Britain, describing it as a review of the nation’s history and proof of its modern character, revealing a historical precedent recorded for the first time in this ceremony.

Charles and his wife Camilla will be crowned at Westminster Abbey in London in a dazzling display and ritual dating back nearly a thousand years.

According to Sunak, the celebration that will take place in Westminster, where the kings of England and Britain were crowned since 1066, will be attended by representatives of all religions for the first time.

It will be an “extraordinary moment for national pride,” Sunak said, adding in a statement: “No other country can put on such a dazzling display. The processions, celebrations and festivals in the streets.”

“But this is not just a scene. It is an expression of pride in our history, culture and traditions. A living proof of the modern character of our country and a ritual we cherish through which a new era is being born,” he added.

“So let’s celebrate this weekend with pride in who we are and what we represent.. Let’s look to the future with hope and optimism. And let’s make new memories so that we can tell our grandchildren the day we gathered to sing… God bless the King.”
