The Corona rules will be tightened this week

Also from this week there are new rules in the federal capital Vienna. As Mayor Michael Ludwig announced on Thursday, the rules for visiting Vienna’s hospitals and nursing homes are to be revised. As a reminder: Vienna already has stricter measures as mentioned at the beginning: FFP2 mask requirement in all indoor areas, 2-G in the gastro and night gastro.

In addition, only one visitor per patient and per day should be allowed in hospitals. In facilities for older people or those in need of care, this should be two people per day. In addition to the visitor limit, the 2G Plus regulation will also be used once more in future in hospitals. This means that only those who have been vaccinated and those who have recovered are allowed to visit relatives. They must also show a negative PCR test. The 2G rule will also continue to apply in gastronomy and night catering, emphasized Ludwig. FFP2 masks are still compulsory throughout the retail trade.

“It’s out of the question”

Vienna’s City Councilor for Health, Peter Hacker, will not support the government’s move to also send infected people to work: “There (note: in the health sector) even thinking for a second regarding letting infected employees work is out of the question, in Vienna out of the question and to be honest, I’m quite sure that nobody in Austria will implement it completely. The liability issues will be enormous.”
