On the desktop side, the Core i9-13900KS promises 6 GHz right out of the box. The mobile platform would not be outdone with a Core i9-13980HX displaying a maximum frequency of 5.6 GHz; an increase of 600 MHz compared to the Core i9-12950HX, to which are added 8 additional E-cores.
The flagship of the Alder Lake mobile range is the Core i9-12950HX, a 16 core / 24 thread that reaches a Turbo frequency of 5 GHz. For the Raptor Lake range, the numerous leaks of recent weeks stopped at Core i9-13900HX, capable of going up to 5.4 GHz. However, according to WCCFTech, Intel is preparing an even more powerful mobile processor: not a Core i9-13950HX, but rather a Core i9-13980HX. Its frequency would peak at 5.6 GHz. That would be a 600 MHz bump over the best mobile Alder Lake processor.
As with other benchmarks in the Raptor Lake range, the improvement would not be limited to an increase in CPU frequency. This Core i9-13980HX would offer more cores: 24 cores / 32 threads (quantity of E-cores doubled). Its PBP would remain 55 W. On the side of the iGPU, our colleagues inform 32 execution units, the maximum quantity also proposed by 12th Gen Core HXs. Remember that these mobile chips are very often associated with dedicated GPUs in laptops.

Launch at CES 2023
It is plausible that Intel formalizes its mobile Raptor Lake, as well as the Raptor Lake non-K desktopduring CES 2023. NVIDIA should also present its offer of GeForce RTX 4000 mobiles. If so, we bet laptop designers will have a few machines with these new CPUs/GPUs to show us.
