The arrival of the rapper, targeted by an investigation for rape, was maintained this Sunday at the festival. Feminist associations are thinking regarding an action before her concert.

“The fact that he is coming sends a very bad message.” Accused of rape, the rapper Lomepal is finally kept at the Electronic Beaches in Cannes this Sunday evening, as the organizers announced the day before.

A decision denounced by feminist associations, like the Alpes-Maritimes branch of Family Planning.

“We can potentially be a rapist and come and sing at a festival. We can potentially have words inciting hatred and violence once morest women and gender minorities and stay programmed”, castigates at the microphone of BFM Nice Côte d’ Azur Clémence Rouland, co-president of the association.

Organized action?

Jennifer, a member of the association NousToutes, believes that “all people who have such serious accusations, who have notoriety” must be “deprogrammed from the scenes, while the investigation is done”. The opposite “is an insult to the victims”, she denounces.

The two associations are also thinking regarding organizing an action, before the passage of the rapper.

“Contractual commitments” of the organizers

The organizers of the Electronic Beaches justified Saturday the maintenance of the rapper by recalling their “contractual commitments”. However, they assure that they are not “indifferent” to the accusations and have reaffirmed their “commitment to the respect and dignity of all”.

This Thursday, on the set of BFM Nice Côte d’Azur, the director of the festival, Matthieu Corosine, had “condemned” sexual and sexist violence once morest women and had specified that his teams were going to “consult all the actors concerned to find a way out”.
