It looks like the wrestling world isn’t in for its last surprise controversy over CM Punk’s return if the Pro Wrestling Torch and Wrestling Observer report is to be believed.
We learned earlier today that CM Punk has recorded an interview with ESPN which will be published just before AEW Collision, this Friday June 16th. Everything was going well for the time being, but apparently it would be a new stunt from CM Punk according to their information.
The precise words of CM Punk will remain to be discovered in this exclusive interview, but it would be controversial words that might offend many people. An interview that should generate strong reactions internally and among fans of All Elite Wrestling.
Fightful adds that CM Punk would have spoken regarding several topics including the Elite, he would have made remarks in order to “blur the lines” and to help generate buzz for the next shows of AEW. From what he’s rumored, CM Punk answered questions in an effort to make fans wonder whether he answered seriously or if it’s part of a storyline to shoot what was true in keyfabe.
This same source claims to have been informed that CM Punk was not very happy with the idea of working with KENTA and that he might let it be known in this interview. Once once more everything might be to push the rivalry but no one knows more at this time.
Let’s not forget that AEW also announced that CM Punk will “empty his bag” with a microphone in hand and live during this first show of Collision. The company wants to play on Phill Brooks’ backstage issues, and it’ll just be interesting to see how real or not that storyline will be.
As we know, CM Punk had complicated announcements during the promotional launch of AEW Collision. Talk regarding it good or bad, I think they figured out how to generate interest for this first show which will take place this Saturday.
