Work is progressing on the construction of the new bridge in Skala Laconia. The concreting work of the deck, the first opening of the new bridge, has begun.
This is an important infrastructure project for the wider region. The new bridge will replace the old metal bridge.
The aging bridge will be used for pedestrian traffic.
The work on the construction of the new, large bridge is expected – if everything goes smoothly – to be completed by next summer.
The new bridge will help smooth road access between the villages of the municipality of Evrota, as well as safer access to southern and eastern Laconia.
The planning for the road network of Laconia also includes the bypass of the urban areas of Skala and Vlachiotis.
The studies should be completed, so that the relevant consultation can follow.
