Buffalo Bills safety Damara Hamlin took another step in his rehabilitation as he appeared in his first game since suffering a cardiac arrest last January.

Hamlin was on the starting lineup for his team’s preseason opener on Saturday, which ended in a 23-19 victory for the Bills over the Indianapolis Colts at Highmark Stadium in suburban Buffalo.

The 25-year-old had a great game making three tackles. He also made a big play in his second defensive streak. He managed to neutralize Colts running back Evan Hull on a fourth down and a yard.

The Pennsylvania native suffered cardiac arrest following contact with wide receiver Tee Higgins on Jan. 2 once morest the Bengals in Cincinnati.

First responders had performed life support in the field and he was taken to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.

After several days of hospitalization there, the footballer was transferred to a Buffalo hospital and later discharged.

The 25-year-old was given the green light by doctors to return to footballing activities last April.

Hamlin was playing his second NFL campaign in 2022. The University of Pittsburgh alum had 91 tackles, 1.5 quarterback sacks and a forced fumble in 15 games last season.
