Bipolar disorder is one of the most common mental disorders around the world. Some people do not know that a number of people with bipolar disorder are at risk of other mental disorders.

1- Anxiety disorders

In a study published in the World Journal of Psychiatry, researchers found that 50% of patients with bipolar disorder will develop anxiety disorders, such as generalized anxiety, social anxiety or panic, at some point in their lives.

Symptoms of anxiety disorders include:

Stomach cramps.

2- Substance use disorders

30 to 50% of people with bipolar disorder use drugs or drink alcohol.

They accept drug or alcohol addiction, because they believe that they are an effective way to overcome the symptoms of bipolar disorder or reduce the duration of its treatment.

3- Borderline personality disorder

Approximately 20% of people with bipolar disorder suffer from borderline personality disorder, a mental condition that causes the person to constantly fear abandonment.

4- Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder

Although bipolar disorder primarily affects mood, and ADHD primarily targets attention and behavior, they share many symptoms.

The percentage of ADHD among people with bipolar disorder ranges from 10 to 20%.

Surprisingly, some studies have revealed that patients with ADHD have an increased risk of developing bipolar disorder from 7 to 21%.
