For this reason, in this article I will tell you 4 configurations that you must carry out to prevent WhatsApp from filling up the memory of your cell phone, keep reading to find out!

Most of us are used to seeing the multimedia content already downloaded, but it is possible to configure it to do it manually. This way you can save data and also storage. Next, we are going to see how to do it:

in the tab CHATS, toque More options > Setting.
press storage and data > Automatic download.
Deactivate the check by clicking on each box.

USE: If you disable Wi-Fi and mobile data downloads, media files will never download automatically. You will need to tap each file to download it manually. You can see more information regarding it by clicking here.

Manage and free up space from storage settings

Another important feature of WhatsApp is that it allows you to manage the files and chats you have in a simple way. There is a section where you can find the space your chats take up and delete the largest files.

in the tab CHATStoque More options > Setting. press storage and data > Manage storage.

USE: In this section you will know which chats are taking up more space. If you decide to delete files, it is important that you pay attention to the selections you make to avoid losing data that you are caring for.

Configure temporary messages

Los temporary messages They are an official WhatsApp function that causes messages to be deleted following a while, you can activate it from the contact information, from the chat tab.

Currently WhatsApp users also have the option to activate temporary messages in all new chats; follow the settings manage storage and enter “temporary messages”. Once the feature is activated, all new individual (or group) chats that you or someone else create will be set to disappear following a certain amount of time, automatically, thus avoiding data accumulation.

Delete WhatsApp cache

The cache on your phone saves files that might be useful in the future, but certainly in most cases it’s just to fill space. The WhatsApp application may be taking up a considerable amount of memory in this section, so you can delete it.

On Android you can go to the phone settings, search WhatsApp applications and delete the cache. In iOS you will have to make a backup copy and uninstall the application, then start it once more and load the copy so as not to lose your chats.

From Android, you also see the option to “delete all data”, if you press there it will delete ALL your chats, so be careful when doing this, you should only delete the cache, unless you want to delete all the data of the application.
