The confessions of Adriana Ruano

Adriana Ruano wrote his name in gold letters at the Olympic Games Paris 2024after getting the first Olympic record for a Guatemalan athlete at the Olympics and win the first medal oro for the country.

It has been 9 days since the sports shooter touched the sky in the French capital, and despite having had time to analyse the situation, she feels that she has not yet realised the significance of her feat.

The 29-year-old Olympic medalist spoke with Henry Montenegro of the Noticiero Guatevision and she confessed what lies ahead for her, after having participated in the most important competition of her life.

“It has been a week full of many good things but I still have one competition pending for this year, the Finals Cupwhere only the twelve best athletes of the modality participate. For the moment I will rest at least a mesand then start again,” he said.

“With an eye on Los Angeles 2028”

“I think a great responsibility comes with Guatemala. I have no plans to retire at the moment, my sights are set on the Olympic Games. Los Angeles 2028“I don’t know what path life will take me down, so I can’t guarantee that I’ll continue shooting for another 20 years,” he said.

Adriana spoke about two moments that were very important to her before winning the Olympic gold: The death of her father, Luis Ruanoand having finished in last place in Tokio 2020.

“Luckily I was blessed to be in Paris with my mom and brother, but I always imagined my dad there with them. I think he would be very proud of me because he never demanded results from me, he always wanted me to be feliz and enjoy every moment,” said the Guatemalan.

“You always think that getting last place in the Olympics is a catastrophebut just being able to be in an Olympics is a big thing. Unfortunately, I felt that Tokyo was the worse what could have happened to me, I had shame with me and with the country,” said Adriana.

“In 2022 I started working with a new coach, Pedro Fariza, and changes came in all areas. The results were not coming and I felt like I was not good enough for the sport. It was a very difficult process but it was all in my head; I never let my guard down and I achieved it,” said the Olympic medalist.

Finally, the athlete confirmed that she is returning to Guatemala on Wednesday, August 14and said that “it seems very nice that the welcome parade includes the entire Guatemalan delegation,” because they are a team. In addition, he confessed that what he misses most is spending time with all his friends.
