Accused of seven rapes and a sexual assault, Benjamin Mendy, who had been locked up since August 27, was released on conditions and placed under judicial supervision on Friday. The 2018 world champion is however far from having finished with British justice since his trial initially scheduled for January 24 will finally begin much later, June 27 or August 1. According to The team, it was the postponement of the start of his trial that allowed the 27-year-old defender to leave Manchester prison where he was transferred in December.
A release from prison, however, subject to very strict conditions that Mendy will have to respect. The Manchester City side must stay at his home, hand over his passport to justice and not come into contact with the complainants. He is also required to attend the next preliminary hearing scheduled for January 24. A breach of one of these rules would mean an immediate return to prison for the former Blue.
