The condition that Tobey Maguire put to appear in Spider-Man: No Way Home

The appearance of Tobey Maguire in ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home‘ was somewhat difficult because in addition to the fact that the actor wanted to read the script for the film, he also set a condition to participate in the feature film of Marvel.

And it is that the most epic crossover of Marvel was not without difficulties, and among them there were several requests that the actors put to the filmmakers like the one that Tobey Maguire requested.

It should be remembered that Maguire himself stated that he hopes that Kirsten Dunst join the MCU in the future, since he wore the Spider-Man suit once more and wishes that his partner might accept some participation.

However, according to information fromThe Hollywood Reporter‘, the writers of ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ revealed that Tobey Maguire asked only one thing for his role in the tape and that is that he did not want to delve too much into his Spider-Man’s past.

As it is, Tobey asked that the story be developed without giving many details of what he experienced in the trilogy directed by Sam Raimi, and that being a ‘support’ character, he did not see the need to steal the limelight from the film.

“Tobey wanted very minimal details of how much we know regarding him. Very, very minimal. He didn’t want his Spider-Man to be the focus of attention,” said writer Chris McKenna.

In ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ he reveals that Harry Osborn, his best friend, died fighting him, who lives with Mary Jane, the fights he had with his villains but he doesn’t delve into the subject; Andrew Garfield’s says something similar other than that he misses his Gwen Stacy.

The directors thought to have a couple more scenes where the 3 Spider-Man would talk and say more regarding their universes, but in the end Tobey Maguire decided to do it sporadically.

On the other hand, Garfield described as “incredible” being able to work with Maguire, of whom he considers himself a great fan as an actor.

He also revealed that they had a few weeks before the film’s recording to prepare and develop the relationship between the characters.

“I felt protected. It was very strange. I didn’t feel like making a great ‘Spider-Man’ movie. It felt like Tobey and I were just working on the relationship between our characters and using our imaginations and playing games. It was all so much fun, like we were two friends doing a little Spider-Man short,” said Andrew.
