As expected, it is the Ford Transit Custom that goes electric, within the range of utilities from the American manufacturer. Teased in April, the Ford E-Transit Custom was finally unveiled on Monday May 9, 2022. 100% electric, this new zero-emission compact utility vehicle aims to become “a new benchmark for one-ton vans in Europe”.

In terms of look, this new E-Transit Custom adopts some specific elements. It is in particular at the level of its optics that the utility stands out, with LED daytime running lights and a light strip located above a full grille. The front bumper has also been redesigned. New LED lights have also been integrated at the rear, while the charging socket is located under the right front headlight.

Electric motorization obliges, this Ford E-Transit Custom embeds a battery which gives it a range of 380 kilometers according to the WLTP certification cycle.

Ford is careful for the moment to communicate all the specifics of the electric motorization of the van, but promises that it will be able to take advantage of fast charging and “full towing capacity”.

On board this electric utility, the Dearborn firm finally indicates that the Ford Pro Power Onboard system will be present. This mobile power supply makes it possible to supply electricity to devices, such as tools or even lights. It should thus be possible to use the vehicle as a real mobile workstation.

The price of the new Ford E-Transit Custom is not known at the time of this writing. Produced in Turkey at the Ford Otosan plant, the electric van will enter production “in the second half of 2023”. Ford plans that the Transit Courier and Tourneo Courier will also be entitled to their electric versions “by 2024”.
