The College of Nursing at “King Saud University” launches the Clinical Diploma in Health

In cooperation with the Medical City .. and 45% of the need for specialization among Saudis

The College of Nursing at King Saud University, in cooperation with the University Medical City, launched last Tuesday the Clinical Diploma Program in Mental Health Nursing, under the patronage of the Dean of the College, Dr. Mai bint Muhammad Al-Rashed, and in the presence of the Executive Director of Health Affairs at the Medical City, Dr. Fawzi bin Fahd Al-Jasser.

At the beginning of the ceremony, Dr. Mai bint Mohammed Al-Rashed welcomed the attendees and thanked the organizers of this program, led by the Executive Director General of the Medical City, and spoke regarding the program’s objectives and importance besides the academic programs. She also thanked the University Medical City; For its cooperation in medical professional programs to raise the level of health care and graduate highly qualified nurses; To provide safe and effective mental health care in the Kingdom, and to seek to support specialized programs for bachelor’s holders.

The Executive Director of Health Affairs, Prof. Dr. Fawzi bin Fahd Al-Jasser, pointed out the need for the nursing specialty for Saudi nurses, where the percentage of need is approximately 45%, and the real value of nursing and nurses appeared during the Corona virus crisis, and thanked “Al-Jasser” those in charge of this program; For what they presented to the community and his wishes to see the fruits of the program in the near future.

The Head of the Department of Psychiatry at King Khalid University Hospital, Dr. Fahd Al-Osaimi, spoke regarding the benefit of the program for the medical city and the health sector in the Kingdom, noting that one of the most important reasons for the lack of sufficient beds for psychiatric patients is the lack of specialized nurses in this field.

Director of the General Department of Nursing Affairs at the Medical City Youssef Al-Shamlani said: The launch of the clinical diploma program for mental health nursing is a great day in the history of nursing, as it improves the quality of nursing care for patients in the Department of Psychiatry, and supports the recruitment of national cadres in the field of mental health nursing.

The Head of the Department of Nursing and Mental Health, Dr. Siham bint Mansour Al-Youssef, spoke regarding the importance of the program to the community and the importance of upgrading mental and mental health care in the Kingdom in line with the progress of global education in individual specialties to seek to raise the quality of care and cover the gap in psychiatric and mental nursing in the Kingdom.
