The collapse of an inhabited house in Alexandria… and the search for survivors

An old, inhabited, two-storey house collapsed in the Victoria area, east of Alexandria, on Friday evening, while the protection forces rescued a woman from the residents, and the search is underway for two others under the rubble.

The East Alexandria district operations room received a report stating that an old house had collapsed on Al-Kashef Street in Al-Kasai in the Victoria area, and there were people under the rubble. Neighborhood officials, civil protection forces and the police department, accompanied by an ambulance, moved to the Al-Balagh site, and the examination revealed that the house was an old, inhabited, two-storey building, and had completely collapsed.

The civil protection forces succeeded in rescuing a woman from under the rubble and she was taken to the hospital to receive the necessary treatment, while the search is underway for two others who are still under the rubble – according to eyewitnesses and relatives of the residents of the property.

A report on the incident was issued at the first Raml Police Department, and the Public Prosecution Office is being referred for investigation.
