The COE measures that begin to be applied from Monday, February 21

The COVID-19 traffic lights came to an end on February 21. That is to say, from this date new measures govern, the most relaxed of the pandemic, in the national territory as stipulated by the National COE last week.

One of the main changes is that higher education institutions will be able to operate with 100% face-to-face capacity. However, each entity has autonomy to abide by previously prepared plans.

  • 80% capacity in essential activities: (markets, financial entities, public services).
  • 80% internal capacity and 100% external capacity in non-essential activities: restaurants, cinemas, circuses and theaters (without the sale and consumption of food and beverages), gyms, spas.
  • 60% internal capacity and 75% outdoors in non-essential activities such as: bars, karaoke bars, nightclubs, tolerance centers and the like.
  • 100% capacity outdoor activities: beaches, parks, open spaces.
  • Mass activities subject to COE recommendation: stadiums 60% and concerts in open spaces 75%.
  • Public transport: all seated.
  • For the Carnival holiday, there are no mobility restrictions, or capacity and schedules for the beaches.

The Minister of Health, Ximena Garzón, stressed that the vaccination program is the determining factor so that the impact of covid-19, especially the latest outbreak, has not caused more drastic measures to be taken and, at the same time, saturation in hospitals.

The authorities also decided that face-to-face work will be carried out with 100% capacity and the obligation to measure body temperature prior to admission to places of attention to the public is eliminated.
