Celebrated under the theme: “Progress to be made to the click, youth and digital sector in the service of sustainable development”, the 2024 edition of International Youth Day gave the opportunity to the president of the National Youth Council of Gabon (CNJG), Gildas Mébalé M’alloghe’Eva, to welcome the significant progress made by the transitional authorities in resolving the concerns of young people, long burdened by unemployment.
In a statement made on Monday, the President of the CNJG particularly welcomed the numerous commitments made and initiatives deployed by the President of the transition, Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguéma, aimed at significantly reducing the unemployment rate among young people, set at more than 40% by the World Bank.
In his inventory of concrete achievements already recorded, Gildas Méballé M’alloghe’Eva mentioned in particular, in the field of education and employment for young people, the granting of more than 13 billion FCFA for the rehabilitation/opening of several school and university infrastructure projects, including in many provincial capitals.
He also said that there will be the reallocation of secondary school grants; the revaluation of the 3rd cycle scholarship for students admitted to thesis; the provision of 2,700 budgetary positions, including 1,000 in the field of education and 1,000 others in the field of health; the reopening of entrance exams to leading schools such as ENA, ENSET, ENEF, EPCA and IEF and the allocation of 900 additional budgetary positions for the training of young people in scientific subjects, etc.
It was also an opportunity for the current president of the CNJG to take stock of the activities of the office he has headed since June 17, 2024. We will remember “the development of the strategic roadmap and the national expansion plan on a national scale and in the diaspora; the project of acquiring a national headquarters of the CNJG; the organization of a national caravan to raise awareness among young people on the importance of their involvement in the future referendum process; the reappropriation of their civil rights as well as patriotic and ancestral values; the promotion of the culture of non-violence; the responsible use of social networks; the identification and launch of priority projects in favor of young people”informed Gildas Mébalé M’alloghe’ Eva.
The main mission of the National Youth Council of Gabon is to work for the promotion and development of youth. It plays an interface role between all youth associations and movements and public authorities, civil society and international institutions on issues affecting youth.
