The CNE met with electoral experts sent by the UN

The National Electoral Council (CNE) authorities received this Thursday the members of the panel of electoral experts of the United Nations Organization (UN).

The UN team, which arrived in the country this week, will prepare an internal report for the UN Secretary General on the conduct of the July 28 presidential elections.

Representing the multilateral body were Domenico Tuccinardi, head of the Panel of Electoral Experts; Gianluca Rampolla del Tindaro, resident coordinator of the United Nations System in Venezuela; and Lourdes González, Fernanda Abreu and Roly Dávila, members of the Panel of Electoral Experts.

Also present were Jorge Grayeb, UN Electoral Affairs Officer; Antonio Aranibar, UN Special Adviser; and Magdy Martínez, Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

The president of the organization, Elvis Amoroso, and the main directors of the electoral body were present on behalf of the CNE.

Tuesday was the Foreign Minister Yván Gil who met with this panel of United Nations experts, with whom he discussed the strengths of the Venezuelan electoral system.

The observers will remain in the country until following the electoral event takes place.
