A video would show the moments when Claudia Marleny Ajcu was kidnapped by a group of gang members inside a pirate taxi on July 24, 2024. The images also show how another vehicle, which would be an alleged accomplice, runs over a National Civil Police officer (PNC) who was trying to stop them.

Ajcu was reported missing and had an Isabel-Claudina alert since July 24. Six days later, on July 30, her lifeless body was found in a ravine on Sacoj Chiquito Boulevard, in a sector of zone 6 of the municipality of Mixco.

The National Civil Police (PNC) confirmed that the video corresponds to the case and was obtained from a video surveillance camera that recorded the moment when two police officers, who were riding a motorcycle, They had stopped the illegal taxi in which Ajcu was allegedly transported.

The video shows the vehicle stopped and the two officers on the side, next to the driver’s window. Seconds later, another vehicle is seen on the scene, which, at full speed, passed by and ran over the officer who was driving the motorcycle.

The agent was left on the front of the vehicle that ran him over, which, as can be seen in the images, continued moving forward, while the other agent tried to run to chase the taxi, but the driver backed up and managed to escape.

Suspects captured

According to the main line of research, Ajcu She was kidnapped by a criminal organization linked to Barrio 18 who has used unauthorized taxis to commit kidnappings. Several corpses were also reportedly transported in these transport units.

Initial investigations link this structure to the murder of at least eleven people.

On July 31, 2024, security forces confirmed the arrest of two men and three minors, all five of whom were accused of being part of the alleged hitman structure.

Security forces arrested them when they raided a house described as a “hideout” of alleged gang members, located in the La Florida neighborhood, zone 19.

Besides Two men aged 18 and 21 who were arrested, The agents referred three minors; among them a 15-year-old girl and a 16-year-old boy, who both had an Alba-Keneth alert.

Prosecutor Noé Rivera, from the Mixco Prosecutor’s Office, confirmed that the three minors were active members of the gang and when they escaped from their homes, their relatives activated the alarms.

The three teenagers are accused of the crimes of kidnapping and murder, illegal possession of firearms.

Luminol tests and blood traces

The prosecutor explained that when examining the interior of the house, luminol tests were carried out, used in forensic investigations to detect hidden blood, and they confirmed that there were traces that are being analyzed.

In addition to these clues, items of clothing, some with blood stains, and personal documents belonging to Ajcu were also found.

Nine cell phones, a pistol-type firearm reported stolen, 12 live cartridges, a machete-type knife, ropes, various tools, and a motorcycle that was also immobilized were also located.

According to the prosecutor, the evidence found so far has already established a connection between the victims’ belongings directly at the crime scene, in the home, as well as the place where the bodies were abandoned.

Rivera said that according to the hypothesis, it can be established that the victims were indeed taken to the residence where they were killed and later their bodies were taken out wrapped in plastic bags, and then abandoned in vacant lots.

The PNC confirmed that the investigation into the incident is still ongoing and three vehicles, including the pirate taxi, were immobilized by the Public Prosecutor’s Office (MP) on August 2, 2024.

That day, the Mixco Prosecutor’s Office in coordination with the PNC investigative unit, in a new operation, raided homes in the municipalities of Mixco and San Juan Sacatepéquez, in follow-up to the investigation.
