Founded in 1875, the Damoiseau bakery, located in Andrimont, will not reach its 150th anniversary. The Disone establishment permanently closed its doors this Sunday, December 24. “Labor has become impossible to find or unpayable for anyone who wants to work as a craftsman,” reacts the owner of the establishment on Facebook. The increase in the cost of raw materials has also pushed artisans to go out of business. “It requires additional production that we are incapable of assuming to guarantee us a decent life.” There is that, but also the training of young people “which is clearly insufficient” and the fact that the State does not help artisans “who are only a machine for pumping money”.

Due to the crisis, the Damoiseau bakery in Andrimont is temporarily closing

In her message, she also thanked her great-grandparents, grandparents and parents for giving her the chance “to share a moment, such a beautiful adventure, such a beautiful tool that made me who I am today. I would have liked to be able to live up to this magnificent family gift, but the times in which we live are an eternal questioning…” She also has a thought for her customers “who have supported us”. But as she explains, “a page is turning, but the book is not finished for us. We have chosen to start a new chapter in our lives…”
