The Cleaning Lady made its premiere on FOX in January 2022 and viewers fell in love with Thony De La Rosa’s story as a mother fighting to keep her son and herself alive by any means necessary. The crime drama is both action-packed and full of heart as the characters navigate their precarious circumstances in Sin City
The Las Vegas back drop adds both glam and grit to the series. Yes, the city comes alive for the high rollers and its visitors who see the locale as a place to have fun, spend their money, and go home following a good time. But for the people who live there year round, its shine isn’t dulled but it’s put into perspective.
Throughout season 1–and now season 2 which premiered Monday, Sept. 19–we were treated to luxurious sights around the city from hotels to night clubs as well as residential communities and the desert surrounding the area. But is that really Las Vegas we’re looking at when we tune into The Cleaning Lady? Here’s what we know!
No, that’s not Las Vegas. The series isn’t actually filmed in Nevada at all. Filming for season 1 and 2 has taken place in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
According to the Santa Fe New Mexicanproduction the show’s second season began in June and the show has employed 256 New Mexican crew members, six principal actors, and 2,384 background talent from the state.
The outlet also provided a quote from executive producer Melissa Carter which was released by the states Film Office:
“We had such a great experience filming season one in New Mexico that there was never any doubt we would return for season two.”
It looks like like Albuquerque will be the double for Las Vegas in the show for the foreseeable future.
