A convoy allegedly belonging to the Jalisco Nueva Generación Cartel (CJNG) broke into several communities on Monday in the adjacent strip of the Mexican states of Michoacán and Jalisco.

However, the mayor of Huetamo, Pablo Varona Estrada, issued a statement refuting such information.

“We categorically deny it. In our municipality, fortunately, we live in peace. Certainly, it is not an easy issue, but we have full coordination with the three levels of government and their respective security forces. Together, we have worked to be able to offer citizens a climate of peace,” said Varona.
