The Cultural Service and the Casino Théâtre de Rolle (VD) offer to celebrate the work of the filmmaker, who died in 2022 and resides in the town, through two cult films and a documentary broadcast as a Swiss premiere. See you on Sunday January 22.
The day promises to be rich at the Casino Théâtre de Rolle, with the screening of the “Image Book”, the last film by Jean-Luc Godard shot in 2018. The filmmaker also wanted his latest work to be discovered in unusual places. , each time recreating a space of cinema. This film in five chapters like the five fingers of the hand, composed from images taken in the video memory of the cinema will therefore be to be discovered in a very particular configuration, on a television set with eight loudspeakers which encompass the “public” .
Will then follow the “Contempt”, masterpiece of 1963, adapted from the eponymous novel by Alberto Moravia and which stages Michel Piccoli and Brigitte Bardot.

The public will also be able to discover, in Swiss premiere, “Godard, alone cinema” (2022) by Cyril Leuthy. This tribute to the emblematic figure of the New Wave traces the entire career of Jean-Luc Godard and asserts itself as his definitive biography built around archives, film clips and interviews with several personalities who take the floor to pay tribute to the filmmaker. Among them: Nathalie Baye, Julie Delpy, Pierre Lescure and Alain Bergala in particular.
