The CIA director extends his stay in Doha in an attempt to salvage the negotiations

Qatar – Informed diplomatic sources revealed that CIA Director William Burns extended his stay in the Qatari capital throughout Monday, in an attempt to save the faltering negotiations between the Islamic Resistance Movement, the Palestinian faction movement, and Israel.

Burns had gone to Doha to meet with the Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman bin Jassim Al Thani.

Informed diplomatic sources told Al Jazeera that Burns’ visit to Qatar came in an attempt to save the faltering negotiations between the Al-Ghasail movement and Israel. The American CNN network also quoted an informed source that Burns will remain in Doha on Monday, despite previous plans to go to Israel.

Axios, in turn, quoted informed sources that Qatar, Egypt and the United States are working to avoid the collapse of indirect talks between Israel and the faction movement regarding a ceasefire and the release of detainees.

Reuters quoted an official whom it described as familiar with the mediation talks regarding the war in Gaza, that Burns’ visit to Doha aims to put maximum pressure on the faction movement and Israel to continue negotiations.

Sources told Al Jazeera that the movement’s delegation left Cairo yesterday, Sunday, heading to Doha following two days of negotiations, where the movement’s political leadership will meet on Monday in the Qatari capital to discuss the results of the Cairo talks.
