One of the longest-standing traditions of the Arsis bell ensemble is the annual Christmas concert series, in which the Arsis hand bells ring in various parts of Estonia. If the concert in the capital can be safely considered worthy of a kind of Estonian Guinness record – it has been held for decades on the same date and time – Haapsalu is also one of those special places where the Arsis ensembles come to with their Christmas concert every year.
This year’s Christmas tour is entitled “Our Christmas” and is inspired by the Christmas customs and rich tradition of our ancestors. The concert features archaic Estonian folk tunes as well as well-known Christmas carols from around the world. Vanemuise Theater actor Kärt Kull interweaves excerpts from Estonian poetry between the musical pieces. Various Arsis bell bands will take the stage under the direction of Aivar Mäe.
In addition to Haapsalu, Arsis Christmas music will also be heard in Viljandi, Kilingi-Nõmme, Tallinn, Valga and Tartu this year.
Tickets are on sale at Piletilev and on the spot before the concert. Additional information
