The President of the China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC), Xia Qinglong, at the end of the audience granted to him on Monday March 06, 2023 in Libreville, the Minister of Oil and Gas, Vincent de Paul Massassa, declared that the two oil blocks (BC9 and BC10) for which the drilling work has just ended, were expected to give satisfactory results.
“We have just finished drilling two wells and then we will do in-depth studies and then we will see the strategy followingwards”Mr. Qinglong said with satisfaction.
The two (02) blocks are located in deep water. Good expected results which should subsequently motivate CNOOC to take an interest in other oil fields potentially as rich as the Gabonese sedimentary basin contains.
Since 2018, the Gabonese State has launched a call for tenders for 35 maritime oil blocks, with a new attractive oil code as the key. There are 23 in deep offshore and 12 in conventional offshore.
