In honor of April 1, the War Thunder team launched an event that is clearly inspired by Dune and will continue until April 25.
Here is how the developers describe the event:
The sand planet is especially beautiful at sunset. The sun seems to be sinking into the sands, cinnamon sparkles in the air, “sand sugar” – the most valuable resource in the known universe. For control of the extraction of cinnamon, the troops of the House of the Ox under the command of the tyrant Mr. Paje, and the fighting corps of the imperial aristocrats of the House of the Hawk, the new governors of the planet, are fighting. The cinnamon deposits are guarded by giant sandworms, which the local population revere as sacred animals under the name Desert Father. Worms make it much more difficult to harvest cinnamon in harsh desert conditions. The noise of harvesters and the sounds of vehicles moving across the sand cause the worms to attack the cinnamon pickers and their defenders. The Father of the Desert will punish for the noise!
The task of the mission is to establish control over three key points of the desert location. The Bull and Hawk houses use similar fighting techniques, but each house has its own unique units. However, you need to be on the alert – frequent shooting and high movement speed attract a giant sandworm!
Equipment includes all-terrain vehicles, tanks of various stripes, a multiple launch rocket system, has its own ornithopter, and a special tank that uses sound pulses.
In addition to the mode itself, players will also be able to receive a title, portraits, coats of arms and cinnamon stocks.
