While the actress plays Cleopatra in the next Asterix and Obelix: The Middle Empire, directed by her husband Guillaume Canet, she confided on the Daily set that her children did not appreciate her performance!

Marcel, the son she had with Guillaume Canet, now 11 years old, plays in the feature film. Louise, their five-year-old daughter, was also able to see the film in preview and the reaction was not necessarily what Marion Cotillard had hoped for.

“I always have a little trouble talking regarding my children, but one day my son comes to see me in my office and says ‘I would like to tell you something…’ And so he says to me ‘I would like to tell you something but I’m afraid it will hurt you” and I say to him “But my cat, you can tell me everything”. And he says to me “I don’t think you’re good in daddy’s movie”. Somehow I’m a little relieved because I tell him ‘It’s your opinion, no problem’”, she continues.

But Marion Cotillard was not at the end of his troubles. “I find myself with my daughter in the evening, I understand that she has seen the film too and I don’t know why I ask her the question: ‘And you, Cleopatra?’ And she makes (mimes a grimace). I understood following that… I think that… They mightn’t stand my kissing Vincent Cassel on the mouth, ”she continues.

Marion Cotillard’s children no longer have to see The Dark Knight Rises…
