The child found lifeless in the Meuse in Visé died of drowning


The child who was discovered dead on Friday in the Meuse in Lixhe (Visé, province of Liège) died of drowning, the Liège prosecutor’s office told the Belga agency on Tuesday evening. His mother is still missing. The discovery of the body took place at 8:55 a.m. Friday, upstream from the Lixhe dam bridge in Visé. On Monday, the body of the five-year-old boy was autopsied. The medical examiner concluded death by drowning. Additional examinations must be carried out. The child had been missing since Thursday evening with his mother. A search warrant had been launched.

Early Tuesday evening, the Liège prosecutor’s office announced that the search had been stopped and that the mother had still not been found. An investigation was opened and the file was put under investigation.
