The charge was changed to murder after an overdose death in Bergen

During the investigation, information has come to light which means that the police now believe that there are reasonable grounds to suspect one of the former accused in the case of murder, and that the conditions for remanding him have been met.

– We have therefore coded the case, arrested the then 21-year-old man and charged him with murder, writes Vest police district in a press release.

Death from overdose

The deceased 18-year-old was found in an apartment in central Bergen on 20 November last year. The autopsy report concludes that overdose was the cause of death.

Bergens Tidende who reported on the case first, writes that the man who is now charged with murder, is accused of several other matters, including for having filmed sexual intercourse with a minor girl and for threats.

The newspaper has not succeeded in getting the man’s defender to speak.

– The investigation is still ongoing, and we do not rule out more arrests. As of now, we have no grounds to arrest or imprison more people, the police write in the press release.

– The family is having a hard time

The next of kin have been appointed Alexander Sele as lawyer, the accused’s defender is Agnieszka Bulat.

– The family and parents of the deceased are happy that the police have investigated the case widely, and are happy that there now appears to have been a breakthrough in the case. But it is clear that they are having a hard time, and that they therefore want as much peace as possible, says aid lawyer Sele NRK.

The accused will be produced for remand on Thursday.
