This decision, the couple had a hard time taking it, recognizes Pierrick Trimaud, but it is “the fruit of a mature reflection”. “We feel that in the service professions, there is a recruitment problem due to the fact of wanting to free up time. And everyone needs it in the end: as much us as the employees, and the customers. As a result, it changes the way of consuming a little “he explains.
The hairdresser specifies that people come more often on weekdays and less often on weekends. “Actually, most customers come on Saturday followingnoon by default. We are already in the weekend. We just had lunch and did a bunch of stuff. So going to the hairdresser for an hour or two is more complicated.”
Hairdressers adapt
Closing your salon on weekends, the approach is developing little by little. The result of an adaptation by hairdressing professionals new consumption patterns. “We also now see people in hairdressing salons who close from 2 p.m. on Saturdays, but still do late-night openings. Because customers are also changing. Economic models are changing. So we have to adapt”underlines Magalie Barantin, president of the UNEC of Pays de la Loire (the National Union of hairdressing companies).
A compromise that might allow salons to become more attractive, in order to attract new employees or retain them. In their establishments in Châteaubriant, Pierrick and Emmanuelle Trimaud are looking for a permanent hairdresser, a long-term CDD and an apprenticeship contract.
