The desire to become an entrepreneur in Quebec is in sharp decline, according to a new study from the National Institute for Research on SMEs. The president and CEO of the Mouvement québécois de la Qualité, Guy Martel, explains that entrepreneurs are faced with more complexities when faced with economic instability of this kind.
“Entrepreneurs see a wall in front of them that is much more complex than in the past,” he insists, in an interview with 20h30.
From now on, the task of a business manager requires a lot of “versatility”. Thus, the ability to adapt to new issues and new contexts becomes fundamental.
“An entrepreneur will have to be tactful to make important and strategic decisions. He will have to lower himself to the level of operations and get his hands dirty to collaborate with his employees,” specifies Mr. Martel.
Now, “the societal aspect” is gaining enormous momentum among entrepreneurs, they must consider criteria, such as “looking good,” he notes.
However, Mr. Martel says he is confident in the younger generations. “We must continue to dare, to be confident in taking on challenges, this is the only way we will get through,” comments Mr. Martel.
