The Chambly Cultural Center acquires a unique work of art – City of Chambly

The City of Chambly is proud to acquire a new work for its municipal collection. This is a painting titled The moon directed by Steeven Chapados.

• The artist Steeven Chapados offers a digital reproduction of his work entitled The mooncreated in 2021, with an imposing size of 42 by 88 inches.

• The original work, a lead pencil drawing, is currently on display at the Canadian Space Agency (CSA), which is participating in NASA’s Artemis program aimed at establishing a lasting human presence on the Moon. It was legally transferred to the ASC and occupies a central and accessible space at its head office (located in Saint-Hubert, Quebec). This unique piece thus becomes a reference tool for the future activities of the ASC, marking the convergence between art and space exploration.

• Steeven Chapados has more than one string to his bow: philosophy professor, artist, researcher and author. His areas of expertise extend from philosophy to history, including popular science, of which he has published several works.

• He has just published a book with Fides Editions entitled Lune: Culture-Nature-Exploration which brings together his multiple drawings dedicated to the moon.

• Passionate regarding drawing for over 40 years, he has practiced this art professionally for a quarter of a century. His hyperrealistic style is expressed through portraits, astronomical, animal and archaeological drawings, offering a captivating artistic diversity.

• We invite all citizens to come and discover this unique work at the Chambly Municipal Library.
