LH Mikl-Leitner at the ceremony for 75 years of the Lower Austrian Chamber of Labor
St.Pölten (OTS) – A ceremony to mark 75 years of the Lower Austrian Chamber of Labor took place this Friday at the employee center in St. Pölten. In her speech, State Governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner emphasized that today we are celebrating what has become of the Chamber of Labor over these years.
“Today, the Chamber of Labor is a strong representation of the interests of our employees, a successful representation of the interests of around 600,000 members, a central pillar of social partnership, an institution that is simply an integral part of our beautiful federal state,” she said. There were years in which all the challenges were overcome together. “But because every look back is also a look forward, we also have to look at the environment in which we currently find ourselves. And we all have the feeling that the challenges are not getting less, but more,” said Mikl-Leitner, who remembers the terrible terror of Hamas in Israel, the anti-Semitism that is also spreading once more in Austria, and the war Ukraine or price increases and inflation. The state governor is “firmly convinced that, especially in this situation, looking back can be a guide for us on the way forward. Because there were and are three characteristics above all that have made our Lower Austria so strong: responsibility, cohesion and performance. We in Lower Austria have always taken responsibility for the weaker people. We have helped those who urgently need help and support. And here it was always the Chamber of Labor, as the social conscience of this country, that demanded, supported and actively supported this aid.”
Lower Austria was always particularly strong when “many people in this country pulled together. Social partnership and cooperation between the state of Lower Austria, employee representatives and employer representatives represent this cohesion – in society, in the economy and in politics – like no other institution. This alliance has made Lower Austria better over the last 75 years,” she emphasized. Among other things, the state governor cited the apprentice offensive, the joint initiative to strengthen polytechnic schools, the commitment to a better image of teaching, the joint fight once morest long-term unemployment and the expansion of child care. These examples would show that “the state and the Chamber of Labor have had an incredibly long, reliable and fair partnership over generations that has advanced and advanced Lower Austria.”
Social partnership is a “very special strength of our country. We live social partnership a little differently than in other federal states. We sit down together and try to find common solutions. I think we have mastered the past well, we will also master the present and the future,” said State Governor Mikl-Leitner. Furthermore: “The state and the Chamber of Labor have always been and are strong allies when it comes to the interests of the people in the country and the further development of our country.”
During the ceremony, 20 chamber members were awarded decorations. Chamber of Labor President Markus Wieser, Vice President Josef Hager, Board Member Stefan Taibl, Director Bettina Heise as well as Chiara Lindner and Pascal Leitsmüller also had their say.
