The Challenges and Pranks of Filming Intimate Scenes: Stories from Hollywood Actors

The lights are dimmed, romantic music starts, the actors get closer and a deep kiss follows. At least that’s what it looks like to the viewer in the cinema or at home on the couch. Filming a kissing scene is often one of the hardest tasks on set for the actors.

That’s how it was told Robert Downey Jr. (58) now said in an interview with “W Magazine” that he felt extremely uncomfortable during his first intimate scene. “My first film kiss on set was in ‘Jack the Picker’ Molly Ringwald. Director Warren Beatty was on set and gave a lot of instructions. By the time he was done, I wasn’t even sure I knew how to kiss anymore.”

There were also one or two problems with kissing on the set of “Harry Potter”. Because as Emma Watson (33) and Daniel Radcliffe (34) should come closer to each other, pushed each other Rupert Grint (35) in the background and burst out laughing so loudly that he was thrown off the set. No wonder, the three of them were still children back then.

Other Hollywood stars have also repeatedly reported funny anecdotes during a film shoot. That’s how it started Julia Roberts (56) to knit during the breaks in filming “The Files”. And that’s how she infected her colleagues – at least she thought at first.

Because when Roberts came to work one day, everyone was sitting around knitting. She was then delighted and readily gave advice. At some point she noticed that the other people on set mightn’t handle the wool at all. No wonder, since my colleague had this prank Tom Hanks (67) threaded.

A true prank master George Clooney (62). During the filming of “Ocean’s Twelve” he had his colleague Brad Pitt (60) in his sights, who entrusted Clooney with his room key in good faith. But Clooney used this to come up with all sorts of traps for Pitt.

Together with Matt Damon (53), he once offered Pitt 10,000 dollars (approx. 9,133 euros) if he would stay overnight in an empty house. “There was an Italian book regarding the house, and we made up a story that the house was haunted and there was a murderer on the loose,” Clooney chuckled followingwards. After a very short time, Pitt might no longer stand the supposedly haunted house and ran away.
