The chairman of the parliamentary committee on Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Representative Fadi Alama, affirmed “the insistence of the Lebanese state to follow up on the issue of displaced Syrians, given its importance and its numerous repercussions on the situation in Lebanon.

Alama’s remarks came following his meeting with commission members Prime Minister Najib Mikati, where he said: “We discussed with the Prime Minister the issue of the displaced, and we also talked regarding everything that concerns the conference for displaced people in Brussels. , and we also discussed all the measures that will accelerate the return of Syrians to their country.

He continued: “The meeting with Mikati was reassuring and we discussed all the details related to how to get the displaced people their benefits in their country.”

Alama stressed that “there is a unity of position in Lebanon on the issue of displaced people”, noting that “all parties and political blocs support the government’s position on this issue, especially since it affects the demographics of the country”.

He added: “The official position confirms that Lebanon can no longer bear the issue of displaced people, and current thinking focuses on practical plans to accelerate the return of Syrians.”

Alama also mentioned that during the meeting with Mikati, the file of the war in the south was discussed, and he said: “His Excellency the President presented us with the details of his visit to France. We also discussed the support issue with him. the security forces and the army, and we understood that there are instructions to carry out this matter so that all agencies can do it in turn, at all borders.
