Asuncion, IP Agency.- Through the National Malaria Eradication Service, comprehensive medical care was provided to hard-to-reach indigenous communities in Mariscal Estigarribia, with 98 tests on women of childbearing age, with support from the XVI Health Region, dependent on the Ministry of Public Health.
Paraguay’s participation in Cuida Chagas represents an important contribution to science and commitment to public health, with the main objective of contributing to the elimination of vertical transmission of this disease, which occurs during pregnancy or at the time of birth.
The free rapid test for Chagas disease with advice from local health personnel benefited residents of the communities of Pykasu, Ñu Guasu, Siracua and Santa Rosa, located in the border area with Bolivia.
These activities were part of health promotion for the diagnosis, treatment and care of affected people.
At the same time, general medical consultation services were offered to children and adults, as well as basic and specialized dental care and vaccinations to prevent other pathologies.
The Mariscal Estigarribia district is one of the implementation sites of this research project, whose opening of local activities took place on November 28, 2023.
In addition to the extensive comprehensive training session mentioned above, extremely important mass testing has also been carried out on previous occasions.
