The CH picks up another Slovak in 26th place

In addition to picking forward Juraj Slafkovsky with the first-round pick of the 2022 National Hockey League draft, the Montreal Canadiens have set their sights on another Slovak with the 26th round, right-winger Filip Mesar, Thursday evening at the Bell Centre.

The CH spoke a second time in the first round thanks to the choice acquired in the transaction sending Tyler Toffoli to the Calgary Flames. Montreal also had forward Tyler Pitlick, prospect Emil Heineman and a fifth-round selection in 2023.

Mesar has been playing full-time as a professional for two seasons, with Poprad HK SKP, in the Slovak league. He had 16 points in 37 games in 2021-22 and added four more points in four playoff games.

The 18-year-old sports a 5’10” and 174lb build.
