A strike by SNCF controllers is planned for the weekend of February 17 and 18, following an appeal from the CGT and Sud-Rail. The unions predict between 70 and 90% of strikers.
Disturbances are announced in the stations with a strike by controllers planned for Friday February 16, Saturday 17 and Sunday February 18, at the call of the CGT and Sud-Rail. This might affect a million travelers. The TGV, Ouigo and Intercités may be affected by possible cancellations. Because the rule is simple: there must be a controller on board so that the trains can run. However, 70 to 90% of controllers might strike, according to a union. The TERs might be a little less disrupted.
No question of giving in for the SNCF
The SNCF assures that it will do everything to preserve journeys to winter sports, and that children traveling alone will have priority. But for Jean-Pierre Farandou, CEO of SNCF, there is no question of giving in to the demands of the controllers. The company’s transport plan will be revealed on Wednesday February 14. Travelers should be alerted by SMS.
