AS one of the MSMEs who graduated from the BRILLIANTPRENEUR 2023 event, Damar Bagus Permadi as the owner of Damdam Ceramic Studio said that Jakarta is the only region in Indonesia that does not have a ceramic center.

“There are ceramic centers in various places, Yogyakarta, Bali, Malang, Cirebon and others,” he said to Media Indonesia, Saturday (27/4).

Seeing this condition, Damar dreams that one day Jakarta will have a ceramic center. The reason is that with the establishment of a ceramic center, community empowerment will also be better, because local people can support themselves.

“But the problem is that human resources in Jakarta are still difficult. Because skill they’re not there, but they still are money oriented. So it still takes time,” said Damar.

Apart from that, he also still feels sad regarding the stigma from society that looks down on ceramic products. In fact, ceramics are one of the oldest artistic products in the world.

“In fine arts, the most expensive work following painting is ceramics. Because pottery is the second oldest work in the world. But unfortunately the value or value-“Indonesia is still low,” he stressed.

From his experience participating in the New York Now event, Damar realized that abroad, handmade products are more appreciated. Even when he marketed his product at that event, the price he set was much cheaper than other products hanging there.

“That’s why my mission now is to educate the public that don’t look at everything from factories because factories are mass. “Because there are several things that have their own value,” said Damar.

He also appreciated BRI for being one of the parties focused on empowering MSMEs, especially those who make hand made products shine.

“This also makes me think and feel that in the last 2 years, people have started to see the value of a product,” he added.

In a recent performance presentation, BRI President Director Sunarso emphasized that his party believes that empowering MSMEs will have a real impact on the country.

“BRI believes that the empowerment that the company continues to carry out for the MSME segment has an impact on the resilience of the national economy, considering that MSMEs play a role in around 97% of job creation (job creation) in Indonesia and contributes to GDP in the range of 61%,” stressed Sunarso.
