THE legendary story series by Arswendo Atmowiloto, Keluarga Cemara will be presented in a new form through the musical performance Keluarga Cemara.
The musical stage Keluarga Cemara was produced by Visinema Studios, Galeri Indonesia Kaya, and Theater Musical Nusantara (Teman). The performance will take place on 21 June—14 July 2024 at Ciputra Artpreneur, South Jakarta.
According to the executive producer of the musical Keluarga Cemara, Anggia Kharisma, the process of adapting and converting the vehicle to a stage performance was challenging. Moreover, this is the first time this has been done by Visinema Studios. The story development process has been underway since before the pandemic.
The musical Keluarga Cemara was directed by Pasha Prakasa, the script was written by Yemima Krisantina and Widya Arifianti. Meanwhile the music was written by composers Ifa Fachir and Simhala Avadana. The show, which will last for 22 days, will involve at least 35 actors.
“The musical Keluarga Cemara will be present during the school holidays. We want to present works that are not just entertainment but also works that are timeless. “The story is always present from time to time,” said executive producer of the musical Keluarga Cemara Anggia Kharisma at a press conference at the Indonesia Kaya Gallery, Tuesday, Central Jakarta, (30/4).
Indonesia Kaya program manager Billy Gamaliel said that according to him, the presence of the musical Keluarga Cemara, initiated by Visinema Studios, would further enliven the stage performance industry in Indonesia.

With a performance duration of almost a month, it is hoped that this will also encourage the stage performance industry in Indonesia to move further forward.
So far, stage performances often only last for a matter of days. Although, in the previous period, Billy said that several arts groups had also held performances for long durations.
“After this press conference we will enter the staging stage. Last week the music production process was completed. In each process the material will continue to develop. “I am grateful that the entire team is open to collaborating,” said musical director Keluarga Cemara Pasha Prakasa. (Z-8)
