The CEC has started registering voters who want to vote abroad next year

All voters who wish to vote abroad by mail or who have come in person to Lithuanian diplomatic missions can register on the portal rinkejopuslapis.lt, according to the announcement issued on Tuesday.

“The main innovation of these elections is the possibility to register to vote immediately in all elections and referendums held next year for the convenience of voters,” says the CEC.

Registration to vote in the selected elections also remains.

“This should be convenient for those voters who will be temporarily staying abroad during the elections or plan to change their place of residence next year,” the report states.

Not only Lithuanian citizens who live there permanently or who have gone to study will be able to vote abroad, but also those who will be away temporarily during the elections, for example on vacation or traveling for work.

The CEC notes that if a voter was previously included in the lists of voters abroad, he will have to register again in order to vote in the 2024 elections and referendum.

In the registration application, the voter must indicate the foreign country in which he lives or is temporarily staying and enter the address. When filling in the data, you will also need to choose which way you want to vote: by mail or by coming to a diplomatic mission, consular institution or an additional voting place in person.

In this case, if the voter wishes to vote by mail, he should enter the address of his permanent or temporary residence in a foreign country and provide other contact details.

Next year, on May 12, Lithuania will hold presidential elections and a referendum on the preservation of citizenship, on June 9 – elections to the European Parliament, and on October 13 – Seimas elections.
