The CEC did not register A. Kandrots for the presidential elections: he did not submit a document about the bank account

According to the CEC, the request brought last Thursday to register him as an independent political campaign participant to participate in the 2024 presidential elections was rejected because A. Kandrotas did not submit a document stating that a bank account was opened in his name, which will be used as an election political campaign account.

In her place, the applicant to the CEC submitted a general payment services agreement with Paysera, which has an electronic money institution license issued by the Bank of Lithuania, entitling it to carry out activities related to the issuance of electronic money and the provision of payment services, but it has not been issued a bank license .

The Election Code stipulates that when registering an independent political campaign, along with other documents, a document confirming that a bank account has been opened in the name of the registered person, which will be used as an election political campaign account, must be submitted to the CEC.

In this particular case, such a document was not submitted to the CEC, the commission notes in its report.

According to the commission, A. Kandrotas is already the third person whom the CEC refused to register as a political campaign participant in the upcoming presidential elections. Two other persons were also refused registration due to failure to submit the necessary documents.

A. Kandrots is on trial in the case of riots near the Seimas.
