the vice president Cristina Kirchner posted a message on Twitterhours following changes are made in the Judicial Council.
“Seriously, only the journalist Matías Mowszet realized what is going to happen tomorrow in Argentina, your country? How strange… with so many independent and investigative journalists on TV and in the big newspapers. The caste no one talks regarding”, Kirchner published.
The message alludes to the fact that the President of the Court, Horace Rosattiplans to assume the presidency of the Council of the Judiciary this Monday, as head of a 20-member body, following the Government failed in its attempt to pass a law that restores internal balance to the body.
This conflict began when, at the request of the Bar Association of the City of Buenos Aires, the Court declared the unconstitutionality of the Council of the Judiciary with the current composition of 13 members, ordered by Cristina Kirchner when she was a senator.
The Court understood that the reform of Cristina Kirchner caused its imbalance in favor of politics (deputies and senators) and to the detriment of judges, academics and lawyers, the four estates that make up the Council. That is why the Court gave a deadline that expired at midnight on Friday, for Congress to enact a new law or to return to the original 1999 composition of 20 members, with more judges, lawyers and academics and fewer legislators. And chaired by the head of the Court, Horacio Rosatti.
Two legal counselors were elected (Jimena of the Towersupported by Together for Change, and Maria Fernanda Vazquezwith the support of the ruling party), a judge adviser (Agustina Díaz Cordero, critic of the Government) but Congress did not send her two political advisers (the protection of judge Alonso prohibited it) and it remains to elect tomorrow the academic adviser who completes the number.
