British model Kate Moss has said that her ex-boyfriend, American actor Johnny Depp, has never abused her, contradicting claims by his ex-wife, Amber Heard.
Heard, 36, has said she heard rumors that Depp once pushed his ex-girlfriend Kate Moss down the stairs.
Depp is suing his ex-wife, Heard, and seeking $50 million in damages over an opinion piece in which she said she was the victim of abuse.
Depp said during the trial that it was “unbelievable” to hear Heard’s allegations.
Over the course of the six-week trial, the court heard vastly contradictory accounts of what happened between the two during their tumultuous two-year marriage.
Amber Heard and witnesses supporting her painted a picture of Johnny Depp as an abuser, suffering from drug abuse, jealousy and self-harm. On the other hand, Depp portrayed the actress Heard as an abuser, stressing that her allegations are incorrect.
During her testimony on Wednesday, model Kate Moss, who dated Depp between 1994 and 1998, said he never pushed her and even came to her aid once following she fell down a flight of stairs.
“When I left the room, I slipped down the stairs and hit my back,” Kate added. “And I screamed because I didn’t know what had happened to me and I was in pain.”
She confirmed that he (Deeb) “came back running to help me and carried me to my room and I got medical care.”
She emphasized that Depp did not push or kick her throughout the years they spent together.
During his testimony on Wednesday, Depp accused his ex-wife, Heard, of twisting the story into “an absolutely gruesome incident, existing only in her imagination”.
Heard gave her account of what happened between Depp and Moss earlier in the trial, saying that the image of him (Depp) abusing the model popped into her head when she witnessed an argument between Depp and her sister (during their marriage).
“(Her sister) had her back to the stairs and Johnny was walking towards her,” Amber said.
She added that her fears prompted her to “step up” to Johnny to defend her sister, hitting him “straight in the face”.
The actress’ lawyers decided not to question Moss, following the testimony she gave.
During his testimony, Depp denied several other allegations made by his ex-wife, including her claim that he assaulted her during their honeymoon.
“Heard hit me,” he told the court. “I had a bruise around my eyes, but it was all over and everything was fine once more.”
In her previous testimony, Heard said she was afraid Depp would accidentally kill her during the same incident, which Depp spoke regarding, asserting that he “didn’t mean to do that”.
Depp said it was “crazy” to hear “heinous accusations” of violence and abuse of his ex-wife.
And the defamation case that Depp brought once morest Amber Heard returns, following she published an article in the Washington Post in 2018 in which she said that she was a victim of abuse.
Although the article did not mention Depp by name, his lawyer said it had “tremendously damaged” his career. In return, Amber filed a lawsuit once morest Depp, claiming regarding $100 million.
A source close to the actress told the BBC he believed Moss’ testimony would have little bearing on the case when it came to the “central issue” of Amber Heard’s “right to exercise free speech”.
Closing arguments will begin on Friday, followed by jury deliberations.
