The Minister of Economy, Silvina Batakiswill meet this Monday with governorsin a meeting that this Sunday was still in full organization and had confirmed the presence of only four leaders. The theme of the summit is broad, as he learned THE NATION from sources familiar with the organization. In the Treasury Palace They highlighted that the support of the provincial chiefs is an asset that the minister hopes to have.
Until this Sunday night, the governors had confirmed their presence at the meeting with Batakis. Osvaldo Jaldo (Tucuman), Gerardo Zamora (Santiago del Estero) and Omar Gutierrez (Neuquen). They would be joined by the governor of Catamarca, Raúl Jalil. The efforts included yesterday the attempt to add the president of Corrientes, Gustavo Valdes (UCR).
The meeting, which will be held at noon, might add participation through some virtual platform (there will be governors who will intervene, remotely, from an announcement with the president Alberto Fernandez and the Minister of Public Works, Gabriel Katopodisscheduled for 11:30 a.m.).
The meeting with Batakis is organized by the Chief of Staff, John Manzur. It was considered as a possibility that the meeting take place in his office, although it was officially scheduled at the Palacio de Hacienda.
The sources consulted by THE NATION They did not limit the objective of the meeting to a specific area, but rather indicated that it would be an exchange with the governors and mentioned the key to the support of the leaders provincial to the new Minister of Economy.
Before his arrival at the Palacio de Hacienda following the resignation of Martin Guzman in charge, Batakis cultivated a frequent bond with the governors. He occupied the Secretariat of Provinces, in the Ministry of the Interior, which leads Edward “Wado” of Peter. Hence the importance of showing that support in a photo, an asset that for now the new minister was denied by the referents of Kirchnerism.
The Governor of the Province of Buenos Aires, Axel Kicillof, is one of the leaders who will participate virtually in the announcement by Fernández and Katopodis, which would be prior to the meeting with Batakis. The president and the minister had a telephone conversation a few days ago, as they assured THE NATION sources near Kicillof.
The governors who confirmed their participation in person with Batakis will also be with the President and with Katopodis this Monday to launch the Great Argentina Plan.
