With atrial fibrillation or the so-called atrial fibrillation – a fairly common heart disease today – the risk of blood clots increases. The latter are provocateurs of strokes and heart attacks.
A large Norwegian study of more than 20,000 patients followed for 20 years found that moderate physical activity (eg, walking, cycling four hours or more per week) reduced the risk of any form of atrial fibrillation at 19%. He spoke regarding this in Instagram cardiologist Tamaz Gagloshvili.
“It is necessary to give preference to low-intensity and moderate loads. These are daily walks, yoga, Pilates, swimming at a moderate speed, an exercise bike or an ellipse at a moderate pace,” the doctor noted, emphasizing that with very high and intense physical exertion (regular hard training, sports, participation in serious sports competitions) there is a high risk of a persistent form of atrial fibrillation.
The cardiologist clarified that during atrial fibrillation, the heart beats chaotically and irregularly. Therefore, it is necessary to monitor your pulse during exercise, and if it becomes bad, stop and stop training.
