The car has a button that saves fuel: where to look?

Fuel prices are still high, so motorists are looking for ways to save money

Many drivers are unaware that their car has a little-known button that will help them stop at the gas station less often. The air conditioner in a car requires power from the engine to function. If the system constantly “takes” air from outside and either heats it or cools it, then the car will consume more energy. It requires much less energy when recirculating air.

Almost every car has an air recirculation button. It prevents outside air from getting in and instead takes it in from the cabin through the vents. It depicts a car with an arrow inside it.

This puts less stress on the engine, which means it uses less fuel because the air conditioning system doesn’t have to work as hard.

Experts have calculated that an air recirculation system can reduce fuel consumption by 10%. The effect is especially noticeable on short trips. Tip: When you start driving, keep your car windows open for a minute or two to let out all the hot air. Do this until the air from the vents is colder than outside. As soon as the air conditioner starts blowing cold air, close all windows and switch to recirculation.
