Maxime Desroches of RDS.ca went to a very interesting exercise, that is to say, to rank the NHL teams with the best relief. The exact ranking has not yet been published, but for now we know that the CH one was ranked seventh.
Many hours of research, but it remains nevertheless a very subjective exercise! The #GoHabsGo come 7th in my ranking of the prospect pools of the 32 NHL teams @RDSca.

Several criteria were taken into account for this exercise, but it was the depth of the Habs’ bank that helped him stand out. With 38 choices in the last 4 drafts, this is normal. Indeed, having several choices gives more chances of picking up interesting young people.
But according to Desroches, what hurts the Canadian is the lack of hope for very great talent. Yes, there is a good chance that Guhle, Harris or Farrell will become good NHL players, but the CH lack young people talented enough to play on a first line or a first pair of defenders.
As mentioned in the article, that’s why the team needs to hit a home run with its first pick this year.
Desroches also ranked the organization’s top 20 prospects. Here are his top ten:
1- Kaiden Guhle, defender
2- Justin Barron, defender
3- Jordan Harris, defender
4- Logan Mailloux, defender
5- Sean Farrell, left winger
6- Mattias Norlinder, defender
7- Jesse Ylönen, ailier droit
8- Joshua Roy, left winger
9- Jan Mysak, centre
10- Riley Kidney, centre
Personally, I think Norlinder, who has never really produced at a high level, is too high on this list.
Joshua Roy, who outrageously dominates the QMJHL should be better ranked. He obviously has shortcomings in terms of his skating, but the organization has now put in place people whose job it is to improve this aspect of their players’ game.
With several more choices in the bank this year, the Canadian will have the chance to further fill his pool of hopes. With a depth already quite interesting, it’s time to aim for players with very high potential.
